Newsletter: Panel Discussion, StuRa Elections, Office for Anti-Antisemitism, “Running Dinner” etc.

Dear fellow students,

we have compiled some important and interesting announcements for you:

Panel Discussion on the StuRa Elections

On Monday, June 2, representatives of all lists running in the StuRa elections will be discussing current issues regarding students. The debate starts at 7 pm in HS14 of the Neue Uni. Come along – questions from the audience are welcome! The debate will also be streamed here.

Also, the new Studi-O-Mat will go live on the same evening – the StuRa elections will take place together with elections to many Fachschaftsräte (Student Association Councils) and the board of the Doctoral Convention from 10-17 June.

You can find out who is running for the StuRa elections here and who is running for the Fachschaftsräte elections here.

Running for office: Student councils and Doctoral Convention

Speaking of running for office: you can still run for office for some of your Fachschaftsräte (student council in a subject/department) until 4 June, 4 pm, or, if you are a PhD student, for the board of the Doctoral Convention (ExCo) until June 3. You can find more information here.

Initial plenary session of the Office for Anti-Antisemitism

On June 10, 2025, the StuRa’s newly established Anti-Antisemitism Office will be founded. All those affected and interested are invited to participate in its constitution. The plenary session will take place at 20:30 in the StuRa office at Albert-Ueberle-Straße 3-5.

New: Free advice on tenancy law

Trouble with the landlord? Unresolved defects in the shared flat? Or are you wondering whether the amount of your rent is even legal? Then we have good news: Every Friday this semester, there will be a free weekly tenancy law consultation with specialist lawyers from the Heidelberg Tenants’ Association in the middle of the Old Town! 🏠💪

📍 Where? Sandgasse 7, room 14 (near Uniplatz)

📆 Friday from 2:30 to 4:00 pm

Around 75% of all utility bills contain errors to the detriment of tenants. 😱 We students in particular often have the short end of the stick – but we don’t have to! Get competent support from experts now – without an appointment and for any problem as a tenant. By the way, the consultation takes place parallel to the social consultation hour in the next room – so feel free to come by with all your financial worries and social concerns. We look forward to hearing from you and your feedback!

The “Meet and Cultivate” project

is aimed at all students who are interested in culture or want to become active themselves. Our office for culture and sports would like to create a series of events with you that combines culture, a relaxed atmosphere and drinks. While we take care of the location and refreshments, other students will fill the evening with music, poetry, art and their own creativity. So if you fancy exhibiting your own artwork, jamming with others or sharing poetry, write to the culture department at kulturreferat@stura.uni-heidelberg.de

Two new museum flat rates

Two new museum flat rates will come into force on June 1st. From then on, you will be able to visit the permanent and special exhibitions of the Kurpfälzisches Museum and the Ethnological Museum Heidelberg free of charge. All you have to do is present your student ID or certificate of enrollment. A test phase will run until the end of 2025 – if you and the museums like the flat rate, we will negotiate a long-term flat rate.

Attention teacher training students!

If you are studying to become a teacher, the AK Lehramt (teacher Training Working Group) is the place to go—whether you have problems, ideas, or just want to chat!

The AK organizes various events every semester, including the monthly teacher training barbecue, which will take place again next month on June 25 (we’re celebrating 10 years of HSE!) and the violence prevention workshop “safer-class” for prospective teachers on July 4 (more information is available here). We look forward to seeing you there!

The Running Dinner is back!

After the interdisciplinary Running Dinner with 11 Fachschaften was so well received last semester, we have decided to open registration for the next Running Dinner on June 12 for all students. The registration form and a more detailed explanation can be found here. The registration deadline is June 6.

Documenting barriers in the old town

The Accessibility Office invites all interested parties to a tour of the old town. There, we would like to document barriers of all kinds that you have noticed and/or that bother you in your daily life. Meeting point: June 4, 3 p.m. in front of the Triplex canteen. Everyone is welcome, regardless of whether you have a disability or not.

And last but not least: refunds

If you have not yet applied for a refund for the €9 ticket for the 2022 summer semester but were already studying here at that time, go to the refund portal, where you can check whether you are eligible for a refund.

Wishing you an overly sunny summer semester,
Your Student Representatives
